Job Description

Field Service Engineer 

North London Based

Salary up to £32,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience) + FE Car + Bonus + 25 Days holiday + Full Training 

With over 20 years' experience and a network of highly trained engineers, sk:n Technical is one of the UK’s leading providers of medical laser servicing and repair.  As a wholly owned subsidiary of sk:n Clinics, we maintain and repair an extensive range of medical lasers, cooling equipment and base stations nationwide to ensure minimum disruption to our clients. 

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair, test, calibrate, align and install laser systems, sub-systems or sub-assemblies.
  • Report and resolve potential problems which could impact timely completion, first time fix and long term repair of faults, such as more complex problems being discovered.
  • Provide technical support remotely to assigned clinics and clients when pre-assessing fault reports.
  • Maintain complete and accurate service records using industry leading service support software.
  • Provide on-site technical support to clients as required.
  • Provide on-site technical support for workshops and exhibitions in the UK.
  • Some overnight travel and occasional EU travel for factory training may be required.

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

While a comprehensive program of internal and external training on lasers and specific laser repair competencies will be provided, a minimum educational and experience profile is required to be successful in this role.

  • Degree or HND in Electronics / Electronic Engineering of certificated equivalent from HM Forces
  • 2 -3 years + experience in a field service role for systems based machines where several types of system (i.e. Electronic / Electrical / Cooling / Mech-a-tronics) are integral to the complete machine operation. Similar period servicing similar medical electronics or in military equivalent roles is also highly desirable.

Critical Competencies:  

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems using schematic diagrams
  • Be able to fault find down to component level.
  • Familiarity with computer packages DOS, Word and Excel
  • Maintain company assigned vehicle, tools, computer, phone and test equipment in satisfactory condition.
  • Continually develop knowledge of laser equipment.
  • Adhere to company guidelines regarding safety procedures
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures for expenses, purchases and ordering of spare parts

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 kilos

 Desirable:

  • Experience of working with LASER technology.
