The Opportunity

We consider ourselves to be the standard bearers of our industry and are always evolving our medical governance framework to ensure we meet CQC, GMC, NMC and industry standards.  As such, we are now recruiting for a Non-Medical Prescribing Lead to focus on developing the practice of our Independent Nurse Prescriber cohort.

Key Duties

  • Develop a standard approach by which Independent Nurse Prescribers are appointed within sk:n to promote a safe and effective culture of prescribing that is underpinned by local and national prescribing guidelines.
  • Promote effective medicines management as well as support INPs in their role as they develop from novice to expert prescribers within their field.
  • Develop a programme to support INPs competencies facilitate regular sessions at nurse meetings on medicines updates.
  • Review the sk:n prescribing formulary on an annual basis and report any issues to the Medical Standards Committee.
  • Provide an annual report to the Medical Standards Committee on prescribing activity.

Job Requirements

Experience and attributes required:

Essential

  • Have a certificate to demonstrate he/she has successfully completed a non-medical prescribing course at post graduate level.
  • Holds current registration as an Independent Nurse Prescriber.
  • Has at least 3 years’ experience of working as an Independent Nurse Prescriber, preferably in a large complex healthcare setting.
  • Detailed working knowledge of medication management and compliance issues.
  • In-depth understanding of the risks associated with NMP and the management of side effects.
  • Well-developed analytical and judgement skills.
  • A positive can-do attitude with an appreciation of the difference between
  • Self starter, able to work remotely. 

Desirable

  • Has previous experience of working as a Prescribing Lead.
